SUMMARY:The Four Immeasurables Retreat with Bonni
DESCRIPTION:8th to 22nd January  \n \nEveryone wants to be happy, but happiness cannot be achieved in isolation. Because all life is interdependent, the happiness of one depends upon the happiness of all and the happiness of all depends upon the happiness of one. In order to be happy, one needs to cultivate wholesome attitudes towards others in society and towards all sentient beings.\nAlso referred to as The Divine Abidings or The Four Limitless Meditations, these practices were originally taught by Sakyamuni Buddha. We’ll be exploring the method derived by Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche. Arising out of focus on developing lovingkindness, the practice naturally unfolds compassion, empathetic joy and equanimity, which Rinpoche often referred to as “the only acceptable emotions.”\nThese four are called the Four Immeasurables because they are directed to an immeasurable number of sentient beings, and because the wholesome karma produced through practising them is immeasurable.\n \nCosts:\nRoom (Members):  $911\n(Non-Members):  $995\nCamping (Members): $799\nCamping (Non-Members): $841\n \nThis is inclusive of food, accommodation, cooks fee, airfare and course materials.  Dana for Bonni’s teaching is not included in this amount.\n \nAbout Dana\nIt is important to note that most Dharma teachers do not receive fees for their teaching but are dependent on the generosity of student donations. One of the reasons no set fee is given by the teacher is so that all beings, no matter what their financial situation is, are able to come and receive teachings.\nDana refers to “a gift freely and joyfully given”, and therefore the giving itself and the actual amount given is to be determined by students themselves. Another way to look at what’s appropriate for working persons is to multiply the hours of teaching by your own hourly rate.\n \nContact Course Manager Diane Johnson to apply for registration: dianelittletree@hotmail.com ( mailto:dianelittletree@hotmail.com )\n \n \n
