Mindful Compassion – for self, others and nature – helps guide our actions for the benefit of all. Well cultivated these qualities lead to an outflow of joy in the achievements of others and strengthens our ability to bounce back from the often turbulent ups and downs of life.\nThese ‘four limitless qualities’ of loving-kindness, compassion, empathic joy and equanimity result from a combination of heart-centred meditation, curiosity, and care-filled attention during daily activities. The practices of loving-kindness and compassion in particular will be central themes of this retreat. Their relationship to fostering a truly mindful life and forming the foundation for insight into the nature of mind will be explored.\nGrant will lead a range of practices for calming our (generally) over-taxed nervous systems, and sharpening the tools of clear discernment, through the practice of the four limitless qualities. The importance of fostering strong positive motivation will also be central to the retreat.\nCourse Fee:\nnon-member: $386 + dana\nmember $356 + dana\n*Please consider becoming a Wangapeka member – click here for details ( https://wangapeka.org/about/membership/ ).\n \n\n \nNOTE: The course fee includes accommodation, food and contribution towards Grant’s travel costs. It doesn’t include any dana / donation to Grant for the teachings he will impart. In accordance with tradition, this is left up to each individual to gift according to their own means. Please bring cash for offering dana.\nAbout Dana or considered generosity.\nDana is often taken to simply mean donation or gift. Dana is a Buddhist teaching about generosity of spirit or the sharing of blessings, the aspiration to generate health and goodwill in all the cycles of giving and receiving; the transactions of daily life. In reflecting on the practice of dana one begins to understand the interdependence of life. Dana is a gift that supports the livelihood of the teacher and their families. In turn the teachings offered are to support you in meeting with life with wisdom and compassion. Each participant arrives at the amount of dana voluntarily. Teachers of the Dharma are supported by considered generosity. It is customary to offer dana at the beginning of the retreat (there is a traditional bowl for this in the main hall). Giving prior to the teaching supports the experience of openness and generosity.\nContact Course Manager: Kate Hurst at kate@headheldhigh.co.nz ( mailto:kate@headheldhigh.co.nz ) for more information\nOr to register please fill out our online registration form\n \n\nThis is part of a two week Mindfulness series taught by Grant and Natasha Rix. People can come for all two weeks, just Tash’s, just the weekend, Tash’s plus the weekend, Grant’s plus the weekend, or just Grant’s.\n\n \nHere are the additional retreat links below for more information:\nRestoring the Calm Mindfulness Retreat with Tash Rix, Sunday 25th September – Friday 30th September\nNurturing Peace Mindfulness Retreat with Tash & Grant Rix, Friday evening – Sunday afternoon, 30 September – 2 October\n
