The Wisdom of Angelic Archetypes: A Meditation Retreat with Mira Riddiford

Jun 5 @ 6:00 pmJun 12 @ 2:00 pm

The word ‘Angel’ means messenger. An Angel’s purpose is to be of service. They can help us gain wisdom with their guidance and support. Angels are known as celestial or heavenly beings of light. These angelic shapes of consciousness have been a part of humanity’s quest for peace for millennia.

This retreat is an opportunity to unplug from the busyness and demands of everyday life, to reconnect with nature and your body, and to safely process your emotions. It’s a way to sit with and heal from the difficulties of life, and to go deeper in your meditation and mindfulness practice.

Sometimes it takes a crisis to come into contact with the principles of Angels, although some are born with an innate understanding of Angels, most aren’t. Whatever your feeling is of Angels, your relationship with them will be respected. With the recent pandemic covid19 crisis affecting the planet, this retreat could be a potent opportunity to come into deeper understanding of that which is life giving.

This retreat is also for those who are:

  • curious about how angels can be relevant in modern life
  • in need of something beautiful, uplifting and inspiring
  • interested in Western Mysticism, Archetypes, the Tarot, the Qabalah and/or the Tree of Life
  • looking for creative fun ways of meditating that encourage mindfulness and peacefulness throughout the day

Angels are revered in Judaism, Islam and Christianity, and many other spiritual traditions. They have similarities to Devas, Dakanis, Dakas, and Jinns (Genies).

In this weeklong intensive we will explore Archangels Michael, Raphael, Israfel, Gabriel, Metatron, and Sandalphon (the extremely tall, and master of heavenly song). As well, we will touch upon the study of the Serifot (emanations) from the Hermetic Qabalah Tree of Life; Jacob’s Ladder (on which angels ascend and descend to the divine); Seventh Heaven; the Angels of the Tarot; and the Chariot (Merkabah Mysticism).

It is perhaps not well-known that Socrates’ teacher was a woman (named Diotima), and that Socrates was also helped by the instruction of a daemon (a good spirit guide).

In the Western Esoteric tradition this type of guidance is sometimes referred to as ‘The Holy Guardian Angel’ or ‘Higher Genius’ .

Investigating the richness of Western Mystery teachings can help our understanding of Buddhist and other meditations, as well as supporting our well being and creativity.

This universalist meditation retreat on Angels is based on a series of symbolic, ancient western mystery teachings, helping people live better, more purposeful lives.

Held at the peaceful Wangapeka Centre, Mira Riddiford welcomes you to a week of immersion and practice in the tradition of Western Mysticism.
