Numerous teachers over the last eight years have been funded to attend this retreat with the aspiration to bring mindfulness into their classrooms. The mind science research is irrefutable, mindfulness helps children and adults build neural pathways of calm, clarity and creativity.
Words from a Teacher
“As a busy teacher, I really valued the opportunity to go on retreat. It gave me a chance to slow down and settle, and to work on deepening my meditation practice. This has helped to reduce stress and improve my family life. It has also been valuable at school, where I have introduced the practice in my classes, and lead a group of teachers who meet to sit together once a week supporting each other in our practice. I am very grateful for the opportunity to go on retreat, it has had a positive and profound impact on me, which is being passed on to others.”
Tim Wright, Social Science Teacher Waimea College.
“For over a decade I taught in both secondary and primary settings as a Health teacher. I know something about the burn out and the beauty of teaching. I am passionate to create supportive cultures of mindful awareness with children, teachers, parents and families. We engage the whole body in nature using deep play, mindful movements and joy.”
