Heads up! Notice of 2026 AGM

You are warmly invited to the Wangapeka Educational Trust AGM weekend, which runs from Friday 17th through Sunday 19th July 2026.

This weekend is one of the only chances the wider membership has to come together throughout the year to connect, relax, and practice together, as well as do the important work of consultation and governance. We hope it will be an inspiring, fruitful, and rejuvenative time together!

We are going to stick with the change from last year, where the Board of Trustees will host the AGM on the morning of Saturday 18th. This then leaves time and space on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning to have some open conversations with the community present. This is likely to include conversations around 2027 Awakening in Community, fundraising, and generally how we can shepherd this precious Dharma Centre wisely and abundantly into the future.  To hear more voices, input, reflections and perspectives is really useful data for the incoming Board as we map out a trajectory for the year, and years, ahead.

You can attend for just the day on Saturday, or all weekend. We deeply appreciate and warmly welcome all who would like to participate.

And it’s free! The BoT generously waives all accommodation and food costs for the weekend.

There will be an opportunity to offer Dana to the Centre to cover accommodation and food costs.

Weekend Program :

Friday – Arriving. The weekend commences at 6pm on Friday with a BYO shared meal. We request that those arriving on the Friday bring enough to cater for themselves, and then we’ll put what everyone brings on the table. You are welcome to arrive anytime from 3pm to allow time to settle in, explore the land, and prepare your food.

Saturday morning – The AGM is a formal occasion when the Board reports to the members about the past year, and proposes a budget for the coming year. We will also hear reports from Caretakers and sub-committees. Members will vote to appoint any new Trustees to serve on the Board. This year we also have a proposal to put to the membership around changing our membership structure and pricing. The details of this proposal will be sent out in the next few weeks.

*** BYO breakfast for Saturday morning ***

Saturday afternoon / Sunday morning – Practice, Connection, and Conversation.
Following the AGM, the Board will facilitate shared practice and emergent conversations that will support us to make clear decisions for the year/s ahead. Lunch and dinner will be provided for all those registered.

Nominations for the Board of Trustees :

This year Ross Inness-McLeish will be stepping down as Trustee. Graham Price will also be stepping down from his role as Secretary, though staying on as a Trustee. Louise, Graham S. and Chani have indicated they can stay on for another year.

We are therefore looking for a new Secretary, and ideally 2 new Board members who are willing to come onboard and provide essential continuity over the next 2 years.

It is not necessarily glamorous work! But without it, the Trust and the Centre cannot function. Please deeply consider whether you are willing to offer service to the community in this essential way.
