Autumn Weekend Retreat
FROM KINDNESS TO COMPASSION
A Two-Day Non-Residential Retreat
We’ll begin on Saturday with focus on the development of metta or maitri –loving-kindness meditation (and the healing of negative emotions that get in the way.)
On Sunday, “hearts filled with loving-kindness, unshakeable in our
concern,” for all living beings, we’ll explore the visualization and mantra practice of Chenreizig, Bodhisattva of Transcendent Compassion.
Space is limited, and preference will be given to those able to attend both days. If there is space available after the registration deadline of April 20, those who are able to come on one day or the other will be notified.
When: Saturday and Sunday, May 4th & 5th 9 am to 4 pm. Pre-registration necessary before April 20

A Picnic Saturday April 13th 1pm
Riwaka Resurgence
We cancelled the March picnic due to wet weather…so we’ll hope for a dry day this time.
Come and enjoy a picnic and easy walk to the crystal clear resurgence. Bring food to share. Family and friends all welcome.
Directions: From Motueka township drive North on highway 60 towards Takaka. At 7.8kms there is a hard left corner and on the right is the Kaiteriteri turnoff. Turn left and drive 2.1kms. Turn left onto Riwaka Valley Rd. At 5.9kms you will approach Riwaka Valley left branch. Drive straight ahead, do not cross bridge. At 8.5kms you will reach the Riwaka Resurgence car park. Our group will be nestled in the grass area.

Monday Morning Meditations
CULTIVATING TRANSCENDENT COMPASSION
This practice focuses on Chenreizig (in Sanskrit, Avalokiteshvara) the Bodhisattva of Transcendent Compassion. It is a gentle, guided, visualization and mantra recitation that is accessible for all, and a wonderful introduction to this type of complex meditation environment. The formal practice takes 40 minutes, after which those with other obligations can leave. There will then be a short period for questions and guidance. All Welcome.

Community Meditation: Building Skilful Practice
An opportunity for new and experienced meditators to share the synergy of group practice. We’ll work with one-pointed meditation on the breath, with simple instructions which will develop from week to week. For mature practitioners, this is a chance to hone skills and share the benefit of your experience. There will be time for questions and trouble-shooting the inevitable difficulties that arise.
