Dear Friends in Dharma,
A much loved Wangapeka Dharma Teacher Cecilie Kwiat has had a serious car accident this morning. She was airlifted by ambulance to hospital in Edmonton where she is in critical condition. Cecilie has just come out of surgery and is now in a recovery unit at the University of Alberta’s hospital.
In difficult weather, Cecilie’s car went over a rail and onto Highway 12. The car landed on its roof, and Lacombe firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to get her out.
There has been an update that she has two broken arms a broken pelvis, some bleeding in her brain, and some damaged vertebrae. Brenda is with Cecilie and she does have supportive friends and students with her.
We have been asked to pray for her. Please keep her in your hearts, she has helped many beings.
From Don McKenzie:
“Cecilie Has been moved from the emergency ward to the ICU recovery ward after having surgery. Please do not call the hospital asking for updates as they are not able to give out information and will only refer you to Brenda Mintz who is also overwhelmed with requests for information. I will pass on all information as soon as I have it.
Also please DO NOT try to drive up to Edmonton. The roads are extremely treacherous and were the primary cause of today’s accident. Cecilie will not be having any visitors and the only person to see her today has been Brenda. When visiting is appropriate I will certainly let folks know.”
From Brenda:
“The 2nd surgery went well but there was more bleeding & they were unable to ‘close’. So there will be a third one. Good news is that she is testing at 10 for brain function so there’s things to be no damage there. And they believe there is no spinal cord damage at this point so that is also good news.
She has a long long road to hoe so she really needs those prayers.”
