“Everybody alive today carries the pearls, the gems – we are the beneficiaries of all the life and wisdom of the planet up to now” – Thomas Heubl
Our journey to freedom starts with the body. It offers a down-to-earth yet immediate way to connect with ourselves and align with what is real. A light in the dark, our bodies show us exactly where we are, and also the next step we need to take along our path. They are also the most direct line of communication to the wisdom and life of the earth – expressions of a living planet. By listening to our human body we learn to attune to the rhythms and intelligence of the earth body and all life.
At this time of upheaval and fragmentation, as institutions, structures and old ways are dissolving, we may wonder what is trustworthy? What is real? Where can we look to find genuine refuge, and from where will the answers come? The answer is right here with us – in this body, on this earth. This human body carries the pearls of all the life that has ever been on this planet, and every single person alive today is a beneficiary. Through the body, we each have unmediated access to this reservoir of wisdom and life, and we can learn to access powerful resources of support, inspiration, creativity, joy and trust.
“We must look after the treasure that is our body” – Rob McGowan
In this retreat we will explore through movement, meditation, and creative enquiry, the intimate relationship between healing ourselves and restoring our world. We will slow down and take time to rest deeply, as much as we need to. We walk the land. We eat good food and nourish the senses. We bring our bodies and hearts in line. Steadily, we make friends with ourselves and peace with our place in the “family of things”. Caring for our bodies and caring for our earth go hand in hand, and the Wangapeka is a healing laboratory where we can experience this directly.
As we land deeply in our own skin, our natural capacities for clear seeing, creativity and compassion arise. We tap into the intelligence of the earth and can align ourselves with an indomitable force for good. By learning to inhabit our bodies again, we reclaim not only our personal healing and freedom, but we will also be clear and loving agents for the healing of our world.
Participants in this retreat will be supported by connected movement sessions and guided meditation, one-on-one bodywork, ample time for rest and personal practice, creative exploration of the theme and discoveries arising from it, delicious vegetarian food, and the healing beauty and support of the Wangapeka whenua.
This retreat is suitable for adults of all ages. It may be of particular interest to those in healing/education/environmental professions, people with health challenges needing a gentle and attuned approach to self-care, and anyone curious about how the body can guide our natural unfoldment into wisdom and compassion.
Weekend and part-time attendance is possible, as long as participants begin on the 15th. Preference will be given to those who can attend the full retreat.
